We know that sometimes life events such as illness, unemployment and relationship breakdowns can lead to financial difficulty. And so, we have options if you find yourself in this situation and are struggling to meet your repayments.

Financial hardship applications
In some circumstances, you may be able to submit a financial hardship application. This should be done as soon as you are aware of a change in your financial situation and there are criteria that must be met. You’ll need to apply to Lifestyle Money in writing and specify what changes you want to make. As a lender we must consider your application and follow specific processes required under the Credit Contracts and Consumer Finance Act.
The Commerce Commission has produced an excellent fact sheet that explains when a borrower may be able to apply changes to a consumer credit contract because they are facing hardship. It is designed to give both lenders and borrowers understanding of when a hardship application is appropriate and what types of changes can be made to a contract.
